Paul Miller, 88, of Silver Lake, Ind., passed away at 5:20 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2014, at Peabody Retirement Community Health Center, North Manchester, Ind.
He was born June 22, 1926, in Landeck, Ohio, to Adam and Loretta (Etzkorn) Miller. He served as a private in the U.S. Army and in World War II in the Pacific Theater. He entered the service on Dec. 24, 1944, at Fort Hayes, Ohio, and was honorably discharged on Nov. 8, 1946, in Cambridge, Ohio.
Paul started many businesses including Fordmeter Box in Delphos, Ohio; Olympic Bowling Lanes in Van Wert, Ohio; Green Spot Garden Center & Shoe Spray Service; and most recently a used car lot in Phoenix, Ariz.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge and American Legion in Phoenix and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warsaw, Ind.
He is survived by four daughters: Marcia (Dan) Stanley, Silver Lake, Ind.; Linda (Brian) Dalton Stephenson, Australia; Jacqueline Hislop, Indianapolis; Paula (companion Sarah) Miller, England; two sons: Bruce (Marrianne) Miller, Delafield, Wisc.; and Jeffery Paul Miller, Warsaw, Ind.; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.
A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw, with Father Phil DeVolter. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126. Burial is to be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
