Jack Eugene Tea, 83, formerly of Bourbon, Ind., passed away of a stroke on Jan. 18, 2014.

He was born Feb. 12, 1930, to William and Mary (Bates) Tea of Bourbon. Jack graduated from Bourbon High School in 1948. On July 18, 1954, Jack married Barbara Featherston at Lexington, Ky. Jack and Barbara divorced in Dayton, Ohio in 1983. Jack married Betty Ann Baugh at Franklin, Tennessee on May 2, 1992. Betty Ann passed away on Jan. 12, 2014 as a result of an auto accident.

 

He and Sue Burt were cheerleaders for the 1946-47 and 1947-48 Bourbon Comets. Jack completed training as a mortician at the Shirley Mortuary Funeral Home at Bourbon before joining the Navy in 1951. In the Navy he served as a hospital corpsman for 4 years. He crossed the Atlantic Ocean 42 times as a medic on troop transport ships. His career of 27 years was spent with the L.M. Berry Company at Lexington, Ky.; Knoxville and Nashville, Tenn.; and Dayton, Ohio. In May 1996 he retired as a vice president of the company at the corporate headquarters at Dayton, Ohio. After his second retirement, he bought and sold antiques, jewelry and artwork.

He is survived by Betty’s children: Joseph Baugh, Jr.; John Amos Baugh; Frank Fessy Baugh; a sister: Emily Jeanne Rust, Pickerington, Ohio; Jeanne Rusts; nephews: Wendell (Joyce) Rust, Bourbon; Jerry (Linda) Rust, Baltimore, Ohio; several great-nieces and great-nephews; cousins: James, Tippecanoe, Ind.; Barbara (Don) Faulkner; Jay (Sue) Bates, Bourbon; Joanne Kennedy, Gulfport, Miss.; Mary Alice Vigneault, Charleston, W.V.; and their families.

A memorial service was held on Jan. 23, at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at Franklin, Tenn. Ashes were placed at the Columbarium Memorial Garden of the church. Nephew Wendell Rust and his wife, Joyce, attended Jack’s memorial services in Franklin.
