Arlene Marie Mast, 79, of Nappanee, Ind., passed away at 7:15 a.m., Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Elkhart General Hospital after a short illness. She had been a patient there for 2 weeks.
She was born July 3, 1934, in Nappanee to Wilbur and Pearl (Ganger) Lehman. On Aug. 17, 1952, she married Robert J. Mast at North Main Street Mennonite Church in Nappanee. He preceded her in death.
Arlene had lived her lifetime in Nappanee and was a 1952 graduate of Nappanee High School. She was a homemaker and assisted in the family business, Mast Upholstering. Arlene loved her family and grandchildren. She Attended Nappanee Missionary Church and also Bay Shore Mennonite Church in Sarasota, Fla., where she spent the winters.
She is survived by her children: Marcia (Jerry) Bernaert, New Paris, Ind.; Denny (Karen) Mast, Jim (Patty) Mast, both of Nappanee; grandchildren: Jason Mast, Michelle Marshall, Adam Mast, Lindsey Ramer, Ben Bernaert, Darin Bernaert; great-grandchildren: Tenley and Paisley Marshall; sister: Marilyn (Lewis) Hochstedler, Nappanee; and brother: Paul (Mary Alice) Lehman, Elkhart, Ind.;
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son: Ronald Mast.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at Nappanee Missionary Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at Nappanee Missionary Church. Pastor Chris Knight will officiate and burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
