Clinton I. Butcher, 84, of Cicero, Ind., and formerly of Leesburg, Ind., passed away at 9:12 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, Ind.
He was born on Nov. 6, 1929, in Vernon County, Wisc., to Rev. Isaiah J. and Hazel V. (Stelting) Butcher.
He graduated in 1947 from Spooner High School in Spooner, Wisc., and 1952 from Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan) in Marion, Ind.
On Feb. 18, 1956, in Marion, he married Barbara L. Moon who preceded him in death on March 22, 2008. He moved to the Leesburg/North Webster area in 1973 from Arlington Heights, Ill. He retired after more than 20 years as owner / operator of Central Textile Company Inc. in Leesburg.
He was a member of the Vineyard Community Church in Syracuse, Ind., and formerly attended the North Webster Church of God. He was a former member of the Lakeland Kiwanis Club in North Webster& Wawasee Camp of the Gideon’s International in Syracuse.
Clinton is survived by a daughter: Karen Allen, Cicero, Ind.; two sons: Kevin (Jean) Butcher, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Kent (Liana) Butcher, Syracuse; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a sister: Janet Hubby, Colorado Springs.
He was preceded by his parents; wife; and seven sisters: Vetra Winchel, Ferol Budde, Ailene Mitchell, Guida Millen, Verneen Sharp, Beulah Mae Heavilin and Doris Ensign.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at the funeral home with Rev. John Heavilin, retired pastor and Pastor Kent Butcher of the Vineyard Community Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
