Albert R. ‘Al’ Thompson, 67, of New Paris, Ind., died at 6 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Goshen IU Health Hospital where he had been a patient since Tuesday. He had been in ill health for 3 years.
Albert was born Sept. 4, 1946, in Flint, Mich., to Albert R. and Dorothy (Vann) Thompson. He lived most of his life in Tampa, Fla., moving to the New Paris-Nappanee, Ind., area 15 years ago. On Dec. 18, 1989, he married Mary Bontrager. She survives.
Mr. Thompson enjoyed his dog Buster and was an avid motorcycle rider.
He is survived by his wife; a son: Mark Thompson, Michigan; daughter: Tammie Thompson, Tampa; two grandchildren in Texas; a brother: Danny Thompson, Florida; and a sister: Laurie Cook, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by a son: Albert E. Thompson III; and a sister: Susan Thompson.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Albert Thompson Memorial Fund to help with funeral service costs.
