John E. White, 86, formerly of North Webster, Ind., passed away Friday, June 13, 2014, in Conroe, Texas.

He was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Muncie, Ind., to Isaac and Marguerite (Horner) White. On Oct. 16, 1948, he married Bessie Ellen Rhodes. 

John was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran who served aboard the USS Nevada as a Fireman First Class. He was a member of the North Webster American Legion Post 253 and the VFW Post 15016.

He retired as a manufacturing engineer and designer for Ontario Products in Muncie. He was also a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

John is survived by a daughter: Ellen Ellis, Virginia Beach, Va.; a son: Isaac White, Muncie; his sister-in-law: Norma Wheeldon, Muncie; and 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse, Ind. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Friday, June 27, in the funeral home with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, North Webster, with full military honors to follow.

Memorials may be made in his memory to Kosciusko County Home Health Care and Hospice.
