whiteGeorge L. White, 81, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 2:55 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

He was born Dec. 4, 1932, in Evanston, Ill., to George and Vera (Dopp) White Sr. He was a Warsaw resident since 1948.

He was united in marriage in Warsaw to Sally S. Siders on March 2, 1952. He was the former president of United Telephone System and was employed by the company from May 11, 1953, to Dec. 31, 1992, and retired with 40 years of service.

A quiet servant of the community he was member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church of Warsaw, a former member of Tippecanoe Lake Country Club of Leesburg, a former president of the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce and was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash in 1990.

Survivors include his wife: Sally White, Warsaw; daughters: Nancy Valdiserri, Indianapolis, Ind.; and Joyce (John T.) Wayhart, Wheaton, Ill.; a sister-in-law: Jeanne White, Warsaw; and grandchildren: Kristen, Jenna and Stephen Valdiserri and Kathryn, Jordan and Joseph Wayhart.

A brother John and sister Judy preceded him.

A Funeral Mass will be conducted at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church of Warsaw at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, with The Reverend Corinne Hodges as the Celebrant. No calling hours are scheduled.
