F. Eugene ‘Gene’ Fisher, North Manchester, Ind., formerly of Warsaw, Ind., died at 7:10 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

He was born Sept. 4, 1917, in Logansport, Ind., to William H. and Grace (Hunter) Fisher. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1935 and served with the US Navy during WWII. On May 27, 1938, he married June Dahms.

Gene worked for NIPSCO for 32 years and retired in 1977. He was a member of North Winona Church of the Brethren, Warsaw; the American Legion Post 49, Warsaw, for over 50 years; and Masonic Lodge #73, Warsaw, for over 50 years.

He is survived by his wife; two grandsons: Eddie Leas, Marion, Ind.; Matthew Leas, Florida; one nephew: Stephen (Linda) Leedy, Terre Haute, Ind.; one niece: Barbara Wampler, Warsaw; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter: Linda Sue Leas; and two sisters: Thelma Leedy and Doris Nellans.

No calling is planned. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 12, in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Chaplain Don Fecher will officiate. McKee Mortuary is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
