Valley Girls Stage Stunning Rally

logo2AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball team put together some kind of finish Thursday night.

The host Vikings erased an 18-point deficit with a fantastic final frame to edge past Northfield in Three Rivers Conference action.

Valley outscored Northrfield 22-0 in the fourth quarter to fashion a fabulous 49-45 league win.

The Vikings trailed 45-27 after being outscored by a 22-6 margin in the third stanza. The hosts then pitched a shutout in the final eight-minute quarter for the thrilling TRC victory.

Freshman Anne Secrest had another big time performance to lead the winners. The center popped in a game-high 18 points to go with grabbing 16 rebounds.

Senior standout guard Cara Hoffman had 12 points and nabbed four stalls for the Vikings.

Caylie Teel also netted 12 points for Valley, while Kelsey Ball chipped in with seven.

Valley improves to 9-6 overall and goes to 3-2 in TRC action. Northfield drops to 11-5 overall and also is 3-2 in league play.

Valley plays at Manchester Saturday night and Northfield hosts Rochester Friday night in TRC action.
