LeRoy ‘Topper’ Knepp, 63, of Goshen, Ind., died unexpectedly of natural causes at 4:45 a.m., Monday, June 2, 2014, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born Nov. 19, 1950, in Washington, Ind., to Noah and Rachel (Gingerich) Knepp. On May 25, 1974, he married Marilyn Miller at the Bethel Conservative Church in Nappanee.
Mr. Knepp grew up in Davies County. He has lived in this area the last 22 years. He was the former owner of Knepp & Son Construction Company from 1992 – 2010. He then went to work as a salesman for Master Steel Roofing. He was a member and deacon at Siloam Fellowship in Goshen. The most important thing in his life was his family and grandchildren. LeRoy was a friendly, kindhearted and helping man to the many people he came in contact with. He also enjoyed golfing and mushroom hunting.
He is survived by his wife; a son: Matt (Colleen) Knepp, Nappanee; daughters: Misti (Brian) Miller, Bristol, Ind.; Megan (Ryan) Sutter, Goshen, Ind.; grandchildren: Morgan and Brandon Miller; Carson, Ali and Macie Knepp; brothers: Willis (Anita) Knepp, Lake Butler, Ill.; John Henry (Ruth) Knepp, Montgomery, Ind.; Noah Jr. (Bernice) Knepp, Odon, Ind.; sisters: Rose (Larry) Swartzentruber and Verda (Marvin) Graber, both of Odon; Alma (Dallas) Yoder and Ruth (Marvin) Beachy, both of Loogootee, Ind.; Esther (Leonard) Yoder, Montgomery, Ind.; Naomi Knepp, Washington, Ind.; and his stepmother: Mary Knepp, Washington.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Carli Noel Knepp.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4 at the Siloam Fellowship in Goshen. An additional visitation time will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 5, at Nappanee Missionary Church. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 5, at Nappanee Missionary Church. Burial will be in Hepton Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or his grandchildren’s adoption fund for Megan and Ryan.
