Geneva D. Moore, 102, formerly of Nappanee, Ind., passed away at 6:05 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa, Ind., where she has lived since 2004.
Geneva was born Feb. 13, 1912, in Sidney, Ind., to Loyal W. and Lena F. (Palmer) Dome. She moved to Nappanee in 1935. On March 7, 1941, she married Ralph ‘Pete’ E. Moore in Warsaw, Ind. He preceded her in death Oct. 12, 1970.
Mrs. Moore was a graduate of Sidney High School. She attended both Manchester and Goshen Colleges and received her teaching degree. She taught school for 25 years, starting in a one room school house. She had taught at Scott Township and Etna Green and ended her career in 1973 at Nappanee South Side School where she had taught third grade for many years. Geneva was a faithful member of First Brethren Church, O. E. S. in Nappanee, and Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and was a former member of the Lycium Club in Nappanee.
She is survived by a son: Patrick E. (KaNan) Moore, Harker Heights; Texas; four grandsons; brothers: George (Norma) Dome, Pierceton, Ind.; David (Earline) Dome, Lynchberg, Mo.; sisters; Doris (Paul S.) Bickett, Santa Paula, Calif.; and Margaret (James) Townsend, Warsaw.
She was preceded in death by a son: Ralph A. Moore; and sister: Irene Dome.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Reverend Tom Schiefer will officiate and burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to First Brethren Church.
