He was formerly the director of operations at The Oakwood Inn on Lake Wawasee in Syracuse, Ind., and most recently the president of Palm Island Resort in Placida, Fla.
Mike had a degree in hospitality management from Purdue University attending IPFW where he served on the Alumni Board and volunteered for numerous events.
Mike was loved and adored by all who were ever blessed to have known him. He was always known for his amazing energy and tremendous work ethic and dedication to every project, his great smile and quick wit. He could make you laugh even in the darkest of times.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years: Julia; three sons: Aaron McFarland, Eric McFarland and Brian McFarland; two brothers: Rick McFarland and Larry McFarland; a sister: Nancy McFarland Brown; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 1, on Palm Island Resort in Florida.
Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory, 43rd Street Chapel in Bradenton, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
