Raymond G. Thompson, 78, of Etna Green, Ind., passed away at 5:10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Elkhart Hospice House.
He was born Dec. 13, 1935, to Goble and Cora Brewer Thompson. He lived most of his life in this area.
He married Clara Mae Dowdy, July 6, 1964, in Park City, Ill. She preceded him in death Jan. 11, 2001. Mr. Thompson was a United States Navy veteran, serving in the Korean War. He enjoyed being a truck driver. Raymond loved his wife, Clara, and always talked about how beautiful she was.
Surviving are his sons: Richard Thompson, Etna Green; Gerald Thompson, Pennsylvania; Floyd Mifflin, Nashville, Tenn.; William Mifflin and Raymond Mifflin Jr.; a daughter: Carolyn Kauffman, Nashville, Tenn.; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister: Nita Bradley, Florida; and sister-in-law: Emma Edwards, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Bill Thompson; sisters: Margaret Poston, Mary and Dorothy; and a brother-in-law: Charlie Poston.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 29, and for 1 hour prior to the service, which starts at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Rev. Mark Reige will officiate and burial will be in South Union Cemetery with Military Graveside services by the Nappanee American Legion.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Raymond Thompson Memorial Fund.
