Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Thursday, Jan. 17, 7:31 a.m. South Buffalo Street and Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Michael Degroff, 24, South Lake Street, Warsaw; Patty A. Lenon, 47, Ivywood Drive, Warsaw; Lesa A. Gray, 47, West Main Street Atwood, Warsaw; and Lori A. Haug, 45, 10th Road, Bourbon. Lenon, Gray and Haug were all stopped at the South Buffalo Street and Winona Avenue intersection when Degroff, due to icy conditions on the roadway, slid into Lenon causing a chain reaction accident. Lenon and a passenger in her car were both transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment. Both complained of head pain. Gray was also transported for treatment for complaints of head pain. Degroff and Haug both signed off on medical treatment. Damages: up to $25,000
Thursday, Jan. 16, 4:12 p.m. East Jefferson and South McKinley streets, Warsaw. Drivers: Elise C. White, 18, Stone Camp Trail, Winona Lake; and Beth E. Hofmann, 59, East 750 North, Leesburg. White was slid into the intersection at East Jefferson and South McKinley Streets and struck Hofmann’s vehicle
Thursday, Jan. 16, 1:14 p.m. South SR 15, Claypool. Driver: Beverly A. Bashore, 62, North Market Street, North Manchester. Bashore was northbound on SR 15 and lost control on the slick roadway. She slid off the east side of the roadway and her car rolled over onto it’s side and then back on it’s wheels. No injuries were reported. Damages: up to $10,000
Thursday, Jan. 16, 11:59 a.m. South SR 15, Claypool. Driver: Matthew C. Wise, 19, West Main Street, Cairo, Ohio. Wise was northbound on SR 15 when he went to pass a mail carrier and lost control on slick road way. Wise crashed into an embankment. Damages: up to $5,000
Thursday, Jan. 16, 10:48 a.m. Commerce Drive and Frontage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Ronald C. Hurley, 47, South SR 25, Mentone; and Mary E. Snodgress, 80, North 175 East, Warsaw. Hurley was east on Commerce Drive when he came around a curve and slid into Snodgress’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
Thursday, Jan. 16, 10:46 a.m. South Zimmer Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Steven P. Read, 39, Fox River Road, Valparaiso; and Freddie J. Johnson, 40, South SR 13, North Manchester. Read was slowing for the stop sign at the Winona Avenue and South Zimmer Road intersection when he slid and rear-ended Johnson’s vehicle. Damages: up to $2,500
Thursday, Jan. 16, 10:18 a.m. Zimmer Road and Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Brooke M. O’Connor, 20, East Main Street, Mentone; and Kelly M. Nunez, 35, South 950 West, Mentone. O’Connor attempted to stop at the stop sign at the Zimmer Road and Winona Avenue intersection when he slid into Nunez’s vehicle. Damages: up to $750
Thursday, Jan. 16, 9:48 a.m. North Detroit and East Center streets. Drivers: Courtney L. Crabtree, 18, North Main Street, Syracuse; and Judy S. Maciulski, 60, Pleasant Plain Avenue, Elkhart. Maciulski was stopped at a red light at the Center and Detroit intersection when Crabtree slid and rear-ended her vehicle. Kayla Laughlyn, 17, EMS B44 Lane, Leesburg, was a passenger in Crabtree’s vehicle and complained of shoulder and hip/leg pain. Damages: up to $2,500
Thursday, Jan. 16, 9:42 a.m. West Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Lois V. Kinder, 83, South 400 West, Warsaw; Paula B. Spolski, 45, South Beaver Dam Road, Claypool; and Todd Soos, 48, South Scottdale Road, Berrien Springs, Mich. Kinder was driving west on Winona Avenue when her car lost control and she slid into Spolski and then into Soos. All involved signed off for medical care at the scene however Spolski was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital by a third party due to arm pain. Damages: up to $10,000
Thursday, Jan. 16, 9:02 a.m. 600 Leiter Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Eldon R. Long, 37, East Jefferson Street, Warsaw. Long was backing out and struck into a parked, unoccupied car behind him. Damages: up to $2,500
Thursday, Jan. 16, 8:27 a.m. East Clark Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Barbara L. Coppes, 81, Channel View Drive, Warsaw; and Candy J. Cape, 53, East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Coppes was traveling east on Clark Street when she collided with Cape at the Grant Street intersection. Damages: up to $10,000
