Slick roads resulted in an auto accident in Whitley County this morning that claimed the life of Russell Bertrand, 70. His wife, Sharon Bertrand, 68, sustained minor injuries.

According to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, Russell Bertrand was driving the couple’s 2002 Ford van north on SR 205 when he lost control on the snow covered road. The van traveled left of center and off the road, coming to land on its side.

Bertrand was pronounced dead at the scene. Sharon Bertrand was taken to Parkview Whitley Hospital for treatment.
