t52car0-2Carol A. Smith, 70, of Claypool, Ind., passed away at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014, in her home.

She was born April 29, 1944, in Kokomo, Ind., to Vernon and Margie (Peterson) Smith.

She graduated from Elkhart High School and Ball State Teacher’s College. She married Alan Clark on Aug. 28, 1974. She was a teacher in Muncie, Ind.; Fort Wayne, Ind.; Augsburg, Germany; and Mentone School. She retired in 2006 with 39 years of teaching.

Carol enjoyed reading. She was dedicated to her kids and school. She loved Living at Yellow Creek Lake. She has been going there since a young child.

Carol is survived by her daughters: Sheri (Chris) Power, Alexandria, Ind.; and Joette (Derek) Barnett, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and a brother: James (Kay) Smith, Bradenton, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister: Sue Michael.

Carol A. Smith, 70 of Claypool, Indiana passed away on May 18, 2014 at 6:35 p.m. in her home. 

There will be a Celebration of Carol’s life at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Silver Lake Conservation Building (Lions Club), 108 S. Elm St., Silver Lake, Ind.

The family is requesting that the memorial be made to Mentone School Library,
301 E. Jackson St., Mentone, IN 46539.
