201405171011_0001Dean Martin Thompson, 72, of Fishers, Ind., formerly of Wakarusa-Nappanee, Ind., area, died at 4:25 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2014, at Community North Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind., after a short illness.

He was born July 20, 1941, in Wakarusa to Leo Owen and Pauline (Metzler) Thompson. Dean married Lou Ann Wyman on Oct. 19, 1963, in Wakarusa at the Bible Baptist Church.

Dean was a 1960 graduate of Wakarusa High School. He served in the Army Reserves. Dean had been a plant manager at NIBCO and retired as plant manager with Mueller Industries. He was a former member of the Osolo Township and Nappanee Fire Departments. Dean treasured his family and friends. There was nothing he loved more than spending time with them.

He is survived by his wife; daughter: Cami (Matthew) Zieg, Canton, Ga.; son: Eric (Suzanne) Thompson, Fishers; grandchildren: Andrew, Brendan, Conner Thompson, Isaac, Ian, Hudson and Harrison Zieg; Brittany, Austin and Lily Gleitsman; Ethan and Annabelle Altmark; sister: Sally (Dale) Housour, Wakarusa; and brother: Larry (Linda) Thompson, Nappanee.

He was preceded in death by a daughter: Deci Thompson.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, at Nappanee Missionary Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, at the church. Reverend James McKibbin will officiate and burial will be in Olive West Cemetery.
