Margie L. Fisher, 87, of Elkhart, Ind., passed away at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Milford, Ind.
She was born March 9, 1927, in Elkhart to Alford M. and Cecil (Starner) Boone. She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1945.
She worked as a color artist at Biltmore Studios in Elkhart for 7 years, starting part-time while in her junior year of high school. She worked as a private secretary and bookkeeper for the rest of her career, retiring from Jone Furniture in Wakarusa, Ind., after 30 years.
She married Robert E. Fisher on Dec. 25, 1945. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1959.
She loved birds, wildlife and all animals, especially cats. She loved to travel when she was younger. She loved working crossword puzzles and reading. She was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bulls fan and loved to watch all sports. Margie was very active in the Greenleaf Condominium where she lived since Feb. 1971 and loved her home there.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews; a number of great nieces and nephews; and a brother: Dan Boone, Sylmar, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Dorothy Hoffman.
There will be graveside services at 1 p.m. Friday, May 16, at South Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
