Oscar McCloughanÿþû÷ÿþû÷ÿþû÷ÿé{7€¢¦Oscar McCloughan, 69, of rural Akron, Ind., passed away at 12:01 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at his residence after being in failing health for the last five weeks.

He was born July 14, 1944, in Rochester, Ind., to Maynard “Hap” and Josephine (Hopkins) McCloughan. On Jan. 11, 1964, he married Betty J. Holloway in Burket, Ind. 

Oscar retired from Wabash Alloys seven years ago working there as a truck driver for over 20 years. He attended the Beaver Dam United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed horses, fishing, rebuilding cars, woodworking, landscaping and gardening, baking and, most of all, his family. Oscar, along with his wife, invested there time building a beautiful home since 1996 that represented their love for nature and life.

He is survived by his wife: Betty McCloughan, Akron; daughters: Shelly (Bryan) Sausaman, Yellow Creek Lake; Diane (Dennis) Lance, Lukens Lake; Sue (Troy) Hoffman, Silver Lake, Ind.; and Lisa McCloughan, Laketon, Ind.; five grandchildren: Derek and Jason Sausaman and Chelsea, Jade and Noah Hoffman; three great-grandchildren; a sister: Charlotte (Elmon) Bays, Silver Lake; and special brother: Tom (Bonnie) Holloway, Akron, Ind.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters: Marie Hollon and Joyce Overlander.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, in the funeral home with Pastor Butch Troke.
