Kosciusko County Pulling Snowplows
Kosciusko County Highway Department snowplows will be pulled from road between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. this evening. Plows will be stationed at fire departments throughout the county in the event they are needed for emergencies.
Although all storm warnings have now expired, a Wind Chill Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Gusty winds from the west are expected to continue overnight at speeds of 20 mph to 30 mph. Windy conditions will result in blowing and drifting snow, especially along North-South roadways.
Temperatures are expected to slowly fall to as much as 20 below zero tonight. That will put wind chill factors in the area of 40 below zero. With temperatures this cold, frost bite, hypothermia and even death can occur in a matter of minutes.
Current temperatures in Warsaw, as of 4:45 p.m., are at 13 degrees below zero. The current wind chill is 34 degrees below zero.
