Harold Blankenship, 79, of Etna Green, Ind., passed away of natural causes on Thursday, May 1, 2014, in his home.

Harold was born in Phelps, Ky., on March 6, 1935, the son of Roscoe and Gracie Pearl (Lester) Blankenship. He married Bertha Wolford in Silver Lake, Ind., on Oct. 28, 1959, she survives.

He worked and retired from Mallard Coach and attended school in Phelps, Ky. Harold was a Veteran of the Korean War serving his country in the United States Army from Nov. 3, 1959, to  Jan. 25, 1962.

Harold was a dedicated husband, son, brother and father (Papaw) and will be greatly missed.

Harold is survived by his wife: Bertha; a daughter: Patty Garber; and a son: Danny Blankenship, both of Etna Green; grandchildren: Courtney Garber, Keith Newman and Trevor Blankenship; a sister: Kathy Remfrey, Warsaw, Ind.; and three brothers: Garney Blankenship, Warsaw; Virgil Blankenship, Phelps, Ky.; and Emzy Blankenship, Freeburn, Ky.

He was preceded in death his parents; a son: Harold D. Blankenship Jr.; sisters: Viria Blankenship, Orpha May Ogle, Gladys Marie Layne and Wanda Lou Blankenship; and brothers: Willard Blankenship and Foy Blankenship.

In honoring his wishes, there will be no services at this time.
