1295823_profile_picEleanor M. Young, 92, formerly of Nappanee, Ind., died at 6 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Bremen Healthcare Center, where she had been residing for nearly 5 years.   

She was born May 7, 1921, in Etna Green, Ind., to Orris and Artie (Hauck) Baker.  She was a 1940 graduate of Etna Green High School and was a lifetime area resident. She married Loren Young on Dec. 11, 1943, in Pensacola, Fla. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1998. 

Mrs. Young was a housewife. She was a member of the Nappanee United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women. She also worked in the Thrift Shop at the church for many years.  

She is survived by a son: Roy Young, Nappanee; a daughter: Ruth Young, Nappanee; a sister: Doris Guy, Warsaw, Ind.; and a special friend: Cherel Moyer.

She was preceded in death by three sisters: Fairy Hawley, Legene Smith and Dorothy Baker; and two brothers: Gerald Grosvenor and Kenneth Baker.

Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and for 1 hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Monday, April 28, at the Nappanee United Methodist Church. Pastor Jim Davidson will officiate and burial will be in Hepton Union Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be given to the Nappanee United Methodist Church or the Center for Hospice Care.
