My beautiful pictureMichael Ray Werstler, 63, of Larwill, Ind., passed away at 5:40 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at his residence.

He was born on Aug. 10, 1950, in Warsaw, Ind., to the late Clarence Ray Werstler and Donna Belle (Brinckman) Werstler, who survives in Pierceton, Ind. He was a lifetime resident of Whitley County, Ind.,, and a 1968 graduate of Pierceton High School, Pierceton. He attended college at United Electronic Institute in Grand Rapids, Mich., receiving his Associate Degree in Electronics in 1970. On Jan. 13, 1971, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during the Viet Nam Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1973. On Dec. 30, 1984, he was married to Donna Jean (Douglas) Werstler, who survives in Larwill.

Michael had worked for Dana-Weatherhead Corp. in Columbia City, Ind., for 30 years until 2000. He later worked for G&R Landscaping in Larwill, until 2005 when he started his job as the maintenance technician at Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, Ind., working there until his passing.

He is survived by two sons: Jeffrey (Amy) Shinneman, Elkton, Va.; Nicholas (Audrey) Werstler, Dryden, Ontario; daughter: Kathleen (Micheala) Blumberg, Greenville, Mich.; and eight grandchildren: Caleb, Jonathan, David and Andrew Werstler; Annika Blumberg; Miley, Lindsay and Hallie Shinneman; two brothers: Rex (Carol) Werstler, Leesburg, Ind.; Tim (Sue) Werstler, Pierceton; and his sister: Vicki (John) Camden, Pierceton.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at New Life Christian Church and World Outreach, 744 S. 325 E., Warsaw. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at the church, and will be officiated by Pastor John B. Lowe. Military rites will be conducted at the church by the American Legion of Pierceton, and the Indiana ARNG Honor Guard. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Rd., Warsaw.
