Eis webLois M. Eis, 83, North Manchester, Ind., passed away at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at her home.

She was born Dec. 14, 1929, in North Manchester, Ind., to Mark and Garnett (Roach) Mansfield. She graduated from Linlawn High School in 1947 where she was valedictorian and received a BA from Manchester College and an MA in Library Science from Ball State.

Lois was a teacher and guidance counselor at Manchester High School for 35 years and also taught at Roann, Noble Township and Ivy Tech. She was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, a 50-year member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a member of Wabash County Retired Teachers and Laketon Lions Club.

Church life was very important to her. She was a member of the Nurturing Committee at Manchester Church of the Brethren for many years and served on the board of Manchester Early Learning Center for several years. Through her church she helped with disaster child care. She sponsored Minoo, her foster daughter, from Iran and helped her throughout her stay and schooling at Purdue. Lois enjoyed extensive travels and her family life was very important to her. She loved her family.

She is survived by a step son: Michael Eis, North Manchester; foster daughter: Minoo Minouei, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; a sister: Mary Rohrer, North Manchester; four step grandchildren; two foster grandsons; one niece; one nephew and two great-nieces.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 SR 114 W., North Manchester. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery, CR 300 East, Servia, Ind. Pastor Karen Eberly will officiate. A Celebration of Life service at Manchester Church of the Brethren will be held at a later date.
