Norman L. Tinkey×í!âKhÖ<”,šÌNorman L. Tinkey, 82, of Akron, Ind., passed away at 8:05 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2014, at Woodlawn Hospital of Rochester, Ind.

He was born Dec. 9, 1931, in Claypool, Ind., to Clarence L. and Cleo A. (Jones) Tinkey. On Sept. 2, 1950, in Akron, Ind., at the Akron Church of the Brethren to Rozella M. Holloway, she survives.

He was an independent insurance agent as well as a real estate broker. Prior to that he worked at Sonoco Products Company of Akron. Norman was a 1949 graduate of Burket High School. He was a member of the Akron Church of the Brethren where he was Deacon and Trustee and Property as well as a Sunday school teacher. He also was a past member of the Akron Lions Club and the Akron Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed fishing, part-time farming, mushroom hunting and spending time with all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; daughters: Lana (Fred) Bowser, Akron; Tana M. Tinkey, Akron; son: Byron (Christine) Tinkey, Akron; four grandchildren: Brent and Aryn Bowser; Alyssa and Travis Ramsey; LéErick Bowser; Jonathan L. Tinkey; five great-grandchildren: Dixie, Benjamin, Maison, Ella and Abbygaile; sisters: Peggy (Garwin) Eaton, Mentone; Shirley (Larry) Polk, Leesburg, Ind.;
brother: Merl (Linda) Tinkey, Akron.

He was preceded in death by his brother: Richard John Tinkey; and great-grandchild: Prim Ramsey.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, at Akron Church of the Brethren located at 212 S. Maple St., Akron. Pastor David Hendry will officiate. Burial will be held in Akron Cemetery, Akron.
