A Leesburg man was arrested for drunk driving Tuesday night after he ran his pickup truck off of the road and began driving recklessly through a field.

Leesburg/Plain Township Fire Department was called at 8:37 p.m. last night for what was initially reported as an accident on the curve at CR 100 East and CR 550 North, just south of Leesburg. When the first fire fighters arrived on scene they reported the incident was not an accident, but rather the driver of the vehicle was “doing doughnuts” in the field.

Justin R. Brumfield, 22, of Leesburg, was given field sobriety tests and was ultimately arrested for OWI with a blood alcohol content over .15 percent. Authorities on scene say Brumfield was traveling at a rate of speed too fast to maneuver the curve and drove into the field. The area of CR 100 East at CR 550 North was closed for nearly an hour during the event.
