Earl E. Schmucker, 85, of 25123 CR 54, Nappanee, died at his daughter’s residence, at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, of natural causes.
He was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Marshall County to Eli M. and Mary (Yoder) Schmucker. On Nov. 20, 1952, he married Mary E. Miller. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Schmucker was a lifetime area resident. He was a factory worker and a Bee Keeper. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He is survived by his sons: Elmer (Katie) Schmucker, Garnett, Kansas; Raymond Schmucker, Irvington, Ky.; John (Donna) Schmucker, Nappanee; Howard (Lisa) Schmucker, Eugene (Mary) Schmucker, both of Bremen, Ind.; daughters: Etta (Larry) Borkholder, Milford, Ind.; Clara Yoder, Shipshewana, Ind.; Ruth (Lyle) Hochstetler, Ligonier, Ind.; Dorothy (Merlin) Yoder, Nappanee; Judy (Maynard) Hostetler, Topeka, Ind.; 76 grandchildren; 115 great-grandchildren; brothers: Vernon (Katie) Schmucker, Honduras; Mahlon (Martha) Schmucker, Owen (Norma) Schmucker, both of Bremen; Ivan (Sadie) Schmucker, Nappanee; and sisters: Ruby (Lester) Byler, Erma Schmucker, both of Nappanee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son-in-law: Merle Yoder; daughter-in-law: Fern Schmucker; grandsons: Jonathon and Kenneth Schmucker; great-granddaughter: Janelle Renae Schmucker; and a sister: Lizzie Ellen Schmucker.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, and all day Thursday, April 9, at the Merlin Yoder residence located at 25115 CR 54, Nappanee. Funeral services will also be at this residence at 9:30 a.m., Friday, April 11. The Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate. Burial will be in West Union Cemetery.
