Lauraine SterkUdç ùŽîGœàWÑڅ ‹´sLauraine Sterk, 89, of Akron, Ind., and formerly of South Holland, Ill., passed away at 5:35 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw, Ind.,

She was born Nov. 15, 1924, in Chicago, Ill., to Thomas and Rica (VanSanten) Slager. On April 18, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., she was married to John C. Sterk. He preceded her in death.

Lauraine was a homemaker. She was a graduate to Fenger High School in Roseland, Ill., in 1941. She was a member of the Lansing Gospel Chapel of Lansing Ill. She had fellowship with Bethlehem Baptist Church and also with the Akron Church of God.

She is survived by daughters: Lauraine (Jim) VanRyn, Midlothian, Ill.; Betsy (Ed) Thomson, Oak Forrest, Ill.; Becky (Mike) Curiel, Crystal Lake, Ill.; sons: John Thomas (Mary) Sterk, Wheaton, Ill.; Tim (Diana) Sterk, Munster, Ind.; David (Penny) Sterk, Akron; grandchildren: Heather, Julie, JT, Jacob, Sara, Seth, Abby, John, Nathan, David, Michael and Michelle; and great-grandchildren: Brayden, Brooklyn and Eli.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: John Slager; Adrian Slager; and sister: Betty Boerma.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 5, at the funeral home. Speaker Pete Thomson will officiate. Burial will take place at Akron Cemetery, Akron.
