2463440Starlin Runyon, 65, of Ligonier, Ind., passed away at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Avalon Village in Ligonier.

He was born Nov. 10, 1948, to Lawrence and Carrie (Runyon) Owens in Grundy, Va. On April 19, 2011, he married Janet Schopf. She survives.

He graduated from Council High School and went on to work at Sorq’s in Ligonier for 25 years until their closing and then worked for Walker/Tenneco for 15 years before retiring.

Starlin enjoyed hunting, fishing, turkey shoots, and enjoyed the outdoors. Spending time with his family, particularly his nieces and nephews, was a favorite pastime for Starlin.  He also enjoyed his faithful companion, Coco, his Rottweiler.

Surviving are his wife: Janet; a sister: Brenda (Bill) Hall, Syracuse, Ind.; two nephews: Scot Hall and Eric Hall, both of Syracuse; and several cousins.

Mr. Runyon was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Raymond Runyon; and his companion of 34 years: Patricia Runyon.

Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway S., Ligonier. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at the funeral home with Pastor Zachary Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Syracuse.
