Don McKenzie
Don McKenzie, 61, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away on Nov. 20, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.
He was born on June 9, 1952, in Providence, R.I. to John and Betty (Carpenter) McKenzie. On Nov. 1, 1980, he married Sandra Dawson. She survives.
Don worked as a purchasing manager throughout most of his professional career. He was most recently employed as a purchaser with Biomet. He was a loving husband and father. He served the lord as a choir director, and was also formerly a volunteer firefighter. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in New Paris, Ind.
Don is survived by his wife; seven sons: Alexander (Chrissy) McKenzie; Nathaniel (Lydia) McKenzie; Caleb McKenzie; Joshua McKenzie; Matthew McKenzie; Philip McKenzie; and Gideon McKenzie; four daughters: Heather (Steve) Casey; Sarah, Rachel; and Anna McKenzie; four grandchildren his mother; one sister: Virginia Melo; two brothers: John and Steve McKenzie.
He was preceded by his father.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at the Eastlund Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the funeral home with pastors Dan Haifley and Josh Weiland officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
