Unknown-6A strong start carried the talented Triton girls basketball team to a big win Tuesday night in its home opener.

The Trojans, who are ranked No. 8 in Class 1-A, rolled to a 53-25 win over Argos in Bourbon.

Triton came out fast to the tune of a 19-4 lead at the end of the first quarter en route to the victory.

Senior standout Taylor Hatfield led the way for the unbeaten Trojans with a game-high 18 points.

Kylie Mason added 10 points for Triton, now 2-0 on the season. Jaela Meister scored nine points and Lauren Hostrawser eight for the Trojans.

Triton plays at Plymouth Thursday night.

Eagles Clip Cougars

Visiting Churubusco handed Lakeland Christian Academy a 54-23 loss Tuesday night in Winona Lake.

The Eagles, now 1-2, led 14-2 after the opening period and 31-5 at halftime.

Rachel Sand scored 14 points to lead LCA, now 2-1 on the season. Hannah Remington had four points for the Cougars.

LCA plays at Michigan City Marquette Friday night.
