Frank Edward Williams, 83, of Wakarusa, Ind., passed away at 12:05 a.m., Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.
He was born Sept. 9, 1930, in Remington, Ind., to Walter and Gayle (Anderson) Williams. Mr. Williams was a graduate of Gilboa High School and Purdue University. He received his masters degree from Ball State University. He moved to Wakarusa in 1954. On Aug. 21, 1955, he married Melba Smeltzer in Wakarusa, at the First Christian Church.
Frank retired from WaNee School Corporation in 1991 after 38 years. He began his career at Wakarusa High School as the vocational agriculture teacher, moving to NorthWood High School (NWHS). He was also the FFA Leader at NWHS. Mr. Williams was the 4-H swine superintendent and one of the founders of Young McDonald’s Farm at the 4-H Fair. He had received the Elkhart County Agriculture Society ‘s Uncle Elmer Award in 1991. Mr. Williams was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Wakarusa.
He is survived by his wife; daughters; Debra A. Williams, Elkhart; Sherry (Greg) Buss, Nappanee, Ind.; a grandson: Andrew (Laura) Buss, Nappanee; and a brother: Ralph Williams, Topeka, Ind.;
He was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa. There will be private graveside services held with Pastor Brooks Henry officiating at Olive West Cemetery.
