While on hold to his insurance company Randy Jessup told us what happened at his residence at 1241 E. Mock Road, southeast of Milford. He and his son Van had made it to the basement.

“We heard the wind hit and of course it sounds like a freight train coming, then I saw trees start falling, ran took him to the basement, and all the lights got bright when the power went out and the TV started smoking, so I ran back up tried to shut everything off so the house didn’t catch fire, this fell down as I was heading back down to the basement.

Milford Firefighters had to access the home from the east as large tree limbs blocked the road not only on Camp Mack Road, near just west of CR 150E but also on CR 1050N east of Camp Mack Road. Camp Mack road was also littered with limb debris with a limb seen leaning against one of the homes next Waubee Lake.

Numerous trees and limbs were observed down on property listed as owned by Alyce McKenzie at 1563 E. 1100N. Larry and Cathy Vanlaningham, 1152 Dove Lane, Milford, lost a gazebo in the windstorm. The gazebo, was anchored down in the back yard, was flipped up onto the roof. A grill inside the gazebo was flipped upside down.

Jessup, McKenzie and Vanlaningham weren’t the only ones to suffer from storm damages. Hundreds of photos poured in from StaceyPageOnline.com readers from all over the county.

Areas that have reported significant damages at this time include Silver Lake and Atwood. Downed limbs, trees and power lines have been reported county-wide causing widespread power outages. (See related)

In addition to damages directly caused by the storm, a number of minor car accidents occurred throughout the evening as vehicles struck downed trees and limbs in roadways.
