Pierceton Fire Department was called to respond to a gas leak located in at 597 South Old Road 13, Lot 15 in Pleasant Acres earlier today. According to NIPSCO, gas has been shut off to the line and crews are responding to make necessary repairs.

According to scanner traffic, the leak was a ground level, full gas leak that is pouring from a broken 2 inch steel line. NIPSCO stated that the leak came from a gas service on a home.

The leak began just outside a mobile home located within the park. According to homeowner Brandon Wilson, he and other residents of the home could hear the hissing sound of the gas escaping the pipe. When they entered the living room, Wilson stated it was fully engulfed in gas fumes.

Residents on both sides of Wilson’s home have been evacuated as a cautionary response to the leak.
