Marilyn Jean (Carr) Bibler, 85, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 8:20 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, after a battle with cancer.
She was born on May 19, 1928, in Hartford City, Ind., to Russell Guy Carr and Catherine Elizabeth (Morris) Carr Hood. On Oct. 31, 1954, in Orlando, Fla., she was married to William “Bill” Blaine Bibler who preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 2012, after 58 years of marriage.
Growing up she lived in nine different cities as her father operated the family business: the Morris 5 and 10 Dime Store. She loved spending summers at their cottage on Lake Wawasee.
Upon graduation from Winchester High School in 1946, she attended Christian College in Columbia, Mo., and Brenau College. Throughout the years, she worked at the Morris Dime Store, McCrory’s Dime Store, Penn Electric in Goshen, Duval Jewelry Co. and GE Credit Corp., both in Florida.
A member of this community for 60 years, she loved being a Brownie leader, sang in the church choir, was a member of Eastern Star #60 Winchester and the Women of the Moose. She was a member of Pierceton Presbyterian Church and a former member of Warsaw Presbyterian Church. She served the community as a member of Tri Kappa and a board member of the Kosciusko County Special Olympics.
She is survived by her two daughters: Shari (Tom) Skaggs and Sandy Bibler, both of Winona Lake, Ind.; son: William “Bill” R. (Benita) Bibler, Winona Lake; seven grandchildren: Tyler Skaggs, Chicago, Ill.; Kelsay Skaggs, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Ashley Skaggs, Decatur, Ill.; Kylie Skaggs, Winona Lake; Rachel Bibler, West Lafayette, Ind.; William C. “Will” Bibler and Grant Bibler, Winona Lake; one niecel five nephews, one great niece and five great nephews; one sister: Betty (John) Cardwell, Fort Myers, Fla.; and her brother: Harold “Butch” (Carol) Carr, Orlando, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a daughter: Kathryn Irene Bibler.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 17, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Rd., Warsaw. Her funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Dr. John Davis. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
