UPDATE: Van Crashes Through Ace Hardware

AceThe male driver of a minivan refused certified chemical testing after driving through the front window of the Warsaw Ace Hardware store on Tuesday afternoon.

At 3:46 p.m., Warsaw Police and Multi-Township EMS were called to the store at 1701 E. Center St., where John Mayer, 65, drove his green 1999 Oldsmobile Silhoutte minivan through the front of the building, knocking down a glass wall.

Mayer told police that his foot accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake. During the investigation, officers observed signs of intoxication and, after being medically cleared, John refused certified chemical testing for intoxication and a search warrant for issued for blood testing.

Mayer was transported and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on the charge of operating while intoxicated refusal. Blood tests are pending.

No injuries were reported. Total damage is estimated at approximately $20,000.
