Lights Out
The ninth annual Lights Out program was on Thursday, Oct. 31. Though the weather could have been better the event set a new record. A total of 462 people visited the library to see what “The Great Nursery Rhyme Disaster” was all about. Little Miss Muffet, tired of being scared by the spider, decided to venture in to some other nursery rhymes. Jack Be Nimble, Hickory, Dickory, Dock, The Queen of Hearts, Humpty, Dumpty, Hey Diddle Diddle, The Old Woman in the Shoe, and Three Men in a Tub were rhymes visited by Little Miss Muffet. After all that, Miss Muffet ended up right back where she started! Thanks to everyone who visited the library, volunteered to play a role, and donated candy bars for the children.  What will we come up with next year.

“After School is Cool” Tuesdays
Our next “After School is Cool” Tuesday will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19. It is a craft day with Miss Shari. Have fun making leaves from tissue paper and enjoy a special snack afterward!

On Nov. 26, Miss Heidi is planning to show you how to make some Thanksgiving placemats and play holiday word puzzles. “After school is cool” Tuesdays are for students, kindergarten through fifth grade.  Bring a friend who has never attended one of our after school programs and earn a candy bar for yourself and one for your friends.

Fall Preschool Story Time
Preschool Story Time kids are invited to come to the library to cook with Miss Julie at 10:15 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Nov. 20. Listen to Cooking with Henry and Ellie Belly, by Caroline Park Hurst and other stories about children cooking. Everyone will share their favorite recipes, cook up a delicious snack and make an apron to protect their clothing during future cooking adventures.  A cookbook with all the children’s favorite recipes will be available at the Thanksgiving Feast.

Miss Heidi will cook up some good stories on Nov. 21 and celebrate Thanksgiving at 7 p.m.  Children who attend the 7 p.m. story time will do two story times in one on Nov. 21. Please bring your recipes in and a snack to share with all your friends. The morning and afternoon story times will celebrate Thanksgiving on Nov. 27.

Book and Bake Sale
Don’t forget the Book and Bake Sale at the library from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 15 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 16. The Friends of the Milford Public Library are hosting the event. Community cookbooks are still available for $15. All money raised will help support the library.
