The driver of a passenger car and a child were able to escape the vehicle after it left the road and rolled into a water-filled ditch. It happened just before 4 p.m. on CR 800 West north of CR 300 North, Atwood.

Florence R. Starkey, 27, of Warsaw, told police she has recently been experiencing severe headaches and blacked out at the wheel. Starkey was treated for a broken leg. Her 3-year-old daughter, who was also in the car, had no injuries.

Atwood Fire Department, Multi-Township EMS and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to the accident.

Damages were estimated at up to $10,000.
