Peter Lloyd Renz, 69, of Huntington, Ind., passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014, while surrounded by his family. His passing followed a one month battle with lymphoma.

On Feb. 24, 1945, Pete was born in Huntington, Ind., to Leroy and Dorothy (Garretson) Renz. He had one brother: Richard; and one sister: Rosalie (Renz) Kane. Pete was a proud graduate of the Northfield High School, Class of 1963. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas, as a military mechanic 1965-1967. On Feb. 6, 1969, Pete married Karen Mersiovsky in Texas. On July 13, 1985, he married Judy Clark, in North Manchester, Ind. While both marriages ended in divorce, he maintained a caring relationship with both.

Following his military service he was a mechanic, worked at General Tire of Wabash, North Manchester Foundry and eventually went to over-the-road trucking as a lifetime career, working for various companies including LTI Trucking, Laketon, Ind., TMC Trucking, Des Moines, Iowa, WEBO Express, Laketon, and DRP Trucking. He retired in 2007. Pete Renz was proof that while cancer has the ability to ravage the body it cannot deter the spirit or take away the love that you have for others.

He is survived by his three children: Mark (Allison) Renz, Huntington; Cheryl (Renz) Myers, Logansport, Ind.; Teri (Rob) White, Rochester, Ind.; seven grandchildren: Ashley, Shawn and Alyssa Renz; Amber Casper; Brittany (Matthew) Harris; Mac (Corie) Pemberton; and Jessica Householder; 12 great-grandchildren: Jordan, John II, MyKenzie, Hope, Leah, Jeremiah, Noah, Kody, Elisabeth, Haleigh, Vincent and Alexis; his sister; sister-in-law: Sandy Renz; along with several neices and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother; his former wife: Judy Renz; and grandson: Michael Deon Renz.
