CauffmanEugene W. Cauffman, 92, of Claypool, Ind., passed away at 3:35 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.

On April 20, 1921, he was born in Claypool to Raymond C. and Audrey D. (Decker) Cauffman. He was united in marriage to Marjorie E. Weaver on Oct. 4, 1941, in Kosciusko County, Ind. She preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 2012.

A lifetime resident of Claypool, he graduated from Claypool High School. He was a farmer and also worked as a patent inventor for farm equipment and Pulley-Kellan Co., Huntington, Ind. In 1984, he received a patent for an outdoor wood furnace. Eugene also was a foster parent for 10 years and was a lifetime member of Claypool United Methodist Church.

He is survived by three daughters: Joyce (Robert) Whittlesey, Guthrie, Ky.; Sharon Engelschjon, Warsaw, Ind.; and Peggy (John) Shively, Claypool; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Eugene was also preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Claypool United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Settles officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
