James E. Busz, 74 of Pierceton, Ind., passed away at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014, in his residence.
On May 2, 1939, he was born in Pierceton to Thurman and Nellie (Birtwhistle) Busz. He was united in marriage to Janice Kay Staley on May 6, 1960, in Columbia City, Ind. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2012.
A lifetime resident of Pierceton, James had worked for Dana/Weatherhead in Syracuse, Ind., for 30 years as a quality inspector.
He served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1960 with an honorable discharge. He attended the Pierceton Presbyterian Church, Pierceton American Legion Post #258, Pierceton Masonic Lodge F & AM #377, Fort Wayne Valley Scottish Rite, and Mizpah Shrine Fort Wayne, Ind. He served as Tyler for the Masonic Lodge for several years.
James is survived by three sons: Jeff (Cindy) Busz, Warsaw, Ind.; James (Kathy) Busz, Columbia City, Ind.; and Joseph (Krista) Busz, North Manchester, Ind.; two sisters: Lois Sleighter and Ada Finken, both of Pierceton; and seven grandchildren: Jason, Andrew, Mariah, Ryan, Chas, Kaleb and Logan.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with a Masonic Service by Pierceton Mason Lodge #377 at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, in the funeral home with Pastor Billy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with military honors by American Legion Post #258, Pierceton.
