DeVon Sponseller, 95, of Etna Green, Ind., passed away at 8:35 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, in Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home of Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Jan. 6, 1919, to Dale w. and Josie (Spindler) Sponseller. He married Ruth L. Neff on Sept. 28, 1941. DeVon was a graduate of Etna Green High School, class of 1937.
After retiring from farming, he enjoyed his time with his friends at the local Etna Green Café or wherever he could find a fresh cup of coffee.
DeVon is survived by his two daughters: Diana (Clyde) Poppe and Bonnie (Terry) Fairfield, both of Fort Wayne; a granddaughter: Christa (Alfred) Brothers III; three great-grandchildren: Kody, Caleb and Jayden; and one step great-great-granddaughter: Ebony.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon. A celebration of DeVon’s life will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Gary Endersby of The Chapel, Fort Wayne, officiating. Burial will follow in Etna Green Cemetery.
