Pauline M. Carter, 85, of North Manchester, Ind., passed away at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
She was born in Wabash County, Ind., on Jan. 12, 1929. to J. Calvin and Bessie (Kendall) Hippensteel. Pauline graduated from Chester High School in 1949 and worked at Heckman Bindery for many years. On Aug. 4, 1950, she married Kenneth B. Carter. He survives.
Pauline worked at Timbercrest Retirement Community , North Manchester, for 17 years. She was always a good neighbor and willing to help others. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Wabash, Ind., and attended Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester.
She is survived by four sons: Mike Carter, Montpelier, Ind; Tim (Julie) Carter, Rod (Gloria) Carter and Greg (Lisa) Carter, all of North Manchester; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother: J. Stewart Hippensteel, Warsaw, Ind.; and two sisters: Mabel Coble, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Edith (Cecil) Jenkins, Sidney, Ind.
She was preceded in death by one sister; a grandson: Dillon Carter; and a daughter-in-law: Donna Carter.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 SR 114 W., North Manchester. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at the funeral home. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Servia, Ind.
