Roger S. Couse, 76, of Nappanee, Ind., passed away at 6:45 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Avalon Village, Ligonier, Ind. after an extended illness. He had resided at the Nursing Home for 2 and a half years.

Roger was born Jan. 25, 1937, in Hammond to Samuel and Helen (Challey) Couse. He married Marlene Bowman May 20, 1961, at Central Christian Church in Elkhart, Ind. They moved to Nappanee in 1976 from Elkhart.

Roger was a 1955 graduate of Elkhart High School and had served with the United States Marines. He was a former assistant Vice President at Key Bank and was a former co-owner of Antiques on the Square in Nappanee. Roger enjoyed dealing in antiques and going to auctions. He also enjoyed country music.

Mr. Couse is survived by his wife; daughters: Lori (Marc) West, Elkhart; Lynn (Trent) Sheets, Nappanee; son: Steven (Kim) Couse, Nappanee; grandchildren: Eric (Jen) Couse; Michael (Ashley) Couse; Lauren Couse; Colin West; Courtney (Nate) Davidhizar; Kelsey Sheets; four great-grandchildren; and sisters: Gloria Towsley and Cherie Couse, both of Wilmington, N.C.

He was preceded in death by a grandson: Logan West; and a brother: Phil Couse.

Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at the funeral home. Reverend Janet McFall-Brown will officiate. Military Services by the Nappanee American Legion will follow funeral. Cremation will take place and inurnment will be in Union Center Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
