Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
Officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Tuesday, Oct. 15, 10:30 p.m. South 750 West and West SR 14, Silver Lake. Driver: Michael S. Shepherd, 29, South 750 West, Akron. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $2,500
Tuesday, Oct. 15, 6:55 p.m. 211 E. 200 N., Warsaw. Driver: Nicole M. Abel, 19, Sophie Lane, Warsaw. Abel misjudged a curve and drove off the road. Damages: up to $2,500
Tuesday, Oct. 15, 4:06 p.m. West 100 South, Warsaw. Driver: Gaige A. Koors, 16, North Tucker Street, Mentone. Koors was southbound and said he swerved to miss an oncoming vehicle that was in the middle of the road. He overcorrected, losing control of the vehicle which hit an embankment and rolled onto its top. Damages: up to $5,000
Tuesday, Oct. 15, 5:25 a.m. West 800 South and South SR 19, Mentone. Driver: Melody S. Craig, 58, North 825 East, North Webster. Driver struck a deer. Damages: up to $10,000
Warsaw Police Department
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Tuesday, Oct. 15, 6:42 p.m. Lake City Highway and CR 200 North. Drivers: Richard L. Swartz, 69, Redwood Court, Garrett; and Ervin W. Monk, 45, Iris Drive, Manitowoc, Wisc. Both men were operating semi tractors and trailers on U.S. 30 when approaching a traffic light. As Swartz slowed for Monk’s vehicle, the load in his trailer shifted, causing the truck to lurch forward and strike the back of the second semi. Swartz complained of neck pain. Damages: up to $25,000
Tuesday, Oct. 15, 4:40 p.m. 2605 E. Center St. Driver: Kenneth W. Callahan, 53, Kokomo Avenue, Kewanna. Callahan was operated a mo-ped on a private access road and turned too sharply on gravel causing him to fall. He was treated at the scene for right leg and arm abrasions. Damages: under $750
