Ronald C. “Ron” Douglas, 64, of Nappanee, Ind., died at 9:02 am, Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Elkhart General Hospital after a short illness.
He was born April 30, 1949, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Woodrow and Hazel (Mitchell) Douglas.
Ron was raised in Kentucky and moved to Nappanee in 1991. He was a graduate of Syracuse High School and Tennessee Temple Bible College. He was a United States Navy veteran serving in Viet Nam.
He married Cindy Adams on May 24, 1991. Ron was an ordained minister and had been a mobile home salesman.
He was a member of Nappanee Church of the Brethren and the NRA. Ron loved his dogs, Macy and Nellie, and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivng are his wife: Cindy; a daughter: Kendra Mickley, Milford, Ind.; a son: Jason (LeeAnn) Douglas, Leo, Ind.; stepsons: Trent (Bridget) Dodson, Kodiak Island, Alaska; and Wes (Teresa) Dodson, Farmville, Va.; Darin Dodson, Nappanee; seven grandchildren; and two brothers: Benny (Julia) Douglas and Mack (Jo) Douglas, both of Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by sisters: Norma Jean Zurzalo, Judy Crawford; and a brother: Tommy Joe Douglas.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Nappanee Church of the Brethren. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.
