The Warsaw volleyball team turned in a strong performance Saturday in the Clinton Prairie Invitational.

The Tigers posted a 3-1 mark to take second place honors in the tournament.

Providence, ranked No. 1 in Class 2-A, defeated Warsaw 25-19, 25-17 in the championship match.

Coach Mike Howard’s team, which has won 16 of its’ last 19 matches, defeated Adams Central 23-25, 25-20, 15-10, Hamilton Heights 25-15, 25-10 and host Clinton Prairie 25-14, 25-16 in pool play.

Katie Voelz led the way for Warsaw Saturday. The junior middle powered down a team-high 25 kills on the day and also led the Tigers at the net with six blocks.

Seniors Laura Craig and Emily Poe also turned in strong performances. Craig had 15 kills to go with 20 digs and two blocks. Poe had 15 kills and four aces.

Peyton Adamiec led the defense with 24 digs. Delaney Goble had five aces. Cassie Hoag had four aces and 20 assists. Megan Chauncey had 59 assists.

Warsaw is now 22-6 on the season. The Tigers play at Class 4-A No. 12 Penn tonight and then host Fort Wayne Carroll Wednesday.
