F. Martha Hankins (315x350)F. Martha Hankins, 84, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.

 

She was born Dec. 11, 1929, to Carl and Faun (Cauffman) Hanson in Chicago, Ill. On March 3, 1951, she married Norman E. Hankins in Warsaw. 

 

She moved to Indiana in 1931, then moving from Claypool to Warsaw in 1947.

 

Martha in her earlier years worked as a phone operator for United Telephone Service and at Madison Elementary School in the cafeteria. She also was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Warsaw.

 

She played the drums at Claypool High School, graduating in 1947. Martha enjoyed bird watching.

 

Martha is survived by her husband: Norman, Warsaw; two sons: Michael A. (Andrea) Hankins, Belton Texas; and Larry (Kimberly) Hankins, Reno, Nev.; four grandsons: Randall (Denise) Hankins, Warsaw; Jefferson (Miranda) Hankins, Warsaw; Daniel (Angela) Hankins, Cedar Park, Texas; and Tobias Hankins, San Diego, Calif.; seven great-grandchildren: Adele, Alan, Mathew, Simon, Andrew, Alexia and Lucy.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Irene Kaufman.

 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 16, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service will follow at noon in the funeral home with Pastor Gary Boschain officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

 

The family is requesting that the memorial contributions be made to Kosciusko County Cancer Car Fund, P.O. Box 1810, Warsaw, IN 46580-1810
