WARSAW – The Warsaw boys’ soccer team wasted no time in taking control Monday night.
Sam Allbritten netted a goal in the opening minute as the host Tigers went on to top Fort Wayne South Side 4-1 in a non-conference makeup match.
Allbritten got the Class 2-A No. 6 Tigers on the board right away off an assist from Manuel Rodriguez.
The trio of Miguel Rivera, Matt Williams and Zach Tucker each had a goal for the Tigers in the victory.
Alec Climaco registed on assist on the Williams’ goal for the winners.
Warsaw had 20 shots, including 10 on goal, in the win. The hosts also had five corner kicks. South managed four shots with two being on goal and had no corner kicks.
Warsaw improves to 10-1-5 on the season. The Tigers, who are 4-1-1 in the NLC, conclude regular season and league play Thursday night with a conference match at Northridge.
The Tigers, who were state runner-up in 2012, begin sectional play at home on Oct. 9 versus Culver Academies at 5 p.m.
Warsaw defeated South 2-0 in the junior varsity contest Monday night. Pedro Monsivais scored both goals for the Tigers with Zach Lewis and Alejandro Grenedas picking up assists.
