BREMEN – The Triton boys’ tennis team doubled its’ pleasure on Saturday.
The Trojans got a pair of championship performances from both of its’ doubles teams in the Northern State Conference Tournament at Bremen.
Triton scored 43 points in the league tourney to tie Knox for championship honors.
The Triton No. 1 doubles team of seniors Lucas Shafer and Darren Harrell went 2-0 to win the NSC title.
The Trojans also got a championship effort from the duo of senior Jake Oldham and junior Austin Sellers at No. 2 doubles. The pair also went 2-0 in the tourney.
Triton, coached by Al Peckham, had a pair of second-place finishes in singles play.
Senior Dean Howdeshell was second at No. 1 singles for the Trojans. Junior Jared Fisher claimed runner-up honors at No. 2 singles. Both players went 2-1 in the tourney, losing to Knox in the finals.
Junior Alex Eib finished in sixth place at No. 3 singles for Triton.
Bremen scored 30 points to place third in the tourney, followed by Jimtown (29), Glenn (22), New Prairie (11) and LaVille (3).
Knox, by a combination of regular season and tourney play, wins the overall NSC championship. Triton captured runner-up honors, followed by Jimtown, Bremen, Glenn, New Prairie and LaVille.
The Trojans will play in the Bremen Sectional this week.
